About

The Kidney Disease Research Group (KDRG) at Postgraduate Institute of Medical Education and Research (PGIMER), Chandigarh (www.pgimer.edu.in) is a collaborative effort of members from Departments of Nephrology and Experimental Medicine and Biotechnology.

The focus of group is on developing and maintaining cohort studies in chronic kidney disease (CKD), community acquired acute kidney injury (CA-AKI) and living kidney donors. We are also engaged in design and conduct of clinical trials. A central data center and biorepository for various studies and sub-studies are maintained by us. We have been a part of the ongoing, nationwide Indian Chronic Kidney Disease (ICKD) study (https://ickd.georgeinstitute.org.in ) from the beginning and plan to build on the expertise gained so far. Interventions to decrease cardiovascular disease (CVD) and progression of kidney disease in CKD, their possible mechanisms and development of accurate estimating glomerular filtration rate (eGFR) equation for Indian population are some of our important works.
